Iset Tayef Nakht was a part-time craftsman on the estate of Amun, Thebes, Egypt. He was also a part-time priest in the great religious complex of Karnak, at the very centre of the estate.
Egyptologists believe that Iset Tayef Nakht died in old age in around 675BC. It is through him that our Ancient Civilisations Gallery explores the beliefs, work, and every day lives of Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome; from day jobs to living arrangements and, crucially for Ancient Civilisations, life after death.
The collection houses the 25th Dynasty mummified person, Iset Tayef Nakht as well as artefacts including red-figure ware from Apulia in Italy, Roman glass vessels and ancient textiles.
