The winners of the People’s Choice Awards were announced at Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery last night, at an Artists Gathering marking the end of the Framed: Cornwall Open exhibition.
Back in spring 2025, artists from across Cornwall were invited to submit work for the show, which aimed to shine a light on contemporary creativity in the region. A record number of submissions were received, with an independent panel choosing which would appear in the museum itself.
The result was an uplifting display of skill and imagination, with a huge variety of techniques and materials used and a refreshingly diverse range of subject matter. The show continues until 31st January – if you haven’t visited yet don’t miss it!
The People’s Choice Awards were voted for by visitors to the exhibition, and over 2,500 votes were cast. The five winners received museum goodie bags and prizes from sponsors Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries, Old Chapel Cellars, and The Plaza Cinema. The awards were kindly presented by the friend of the museum, Daphne Skinnard.
As well as the presentation ceremony, the Artists Gathering included a talk by Fin Irwin, Director and Founder of IntoBodmin. There was also an opportunity for artists to give feedback on plans for the museum’s next stage of transformation, following the announcement of Development Stage funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
